Medical Negligence on the rise
With the number of people losing their employee health insurance rising, the NHS is facing a soaring number of patients. And with an increase in patients and fewer staff and facilities, the number of medical negligence cases are soaring.
However, it’s not just the recession that’s to blame for the increase in medical negligence claims.
In recent news, a surgeon who was operating on a man has been said to have let the man die as a bid to cash in on his Rolex. It is currently unknown whether these allegations are actually true, and so it is possible that the family of the victim can not yet claim compensation for this. However, they may claim compensation for the surgeons negligence if it is found that the man could have been saved.
In another case, a hospital junior doctor had been negligent in failing to review test scans and carry out further tests on a patient who suffered from severe neck pains.
After a number of visits to the hospital, it was later found that the patient had seriously damaged a part of the neck which would easily have led her to permanent paralysis if she experienced sudden movement. After a medical negligence case was opened for this event, it was found that the professions at the hospital failed to intervene in the patients of the juniors who were left on their own to check results.
However, medical negligence does not only occur in hospitals. It can occur in care homes too.
In one recent case, the family of an oap won a compensation claim after the care home in which the oap was in, failed to ensure the safety of the people.
It was said that the oap was left alone on a heated chair full of boiling water. The oap, who was unable to walk unaided, suffered severe burns after she could not get up.
